WIB MEMBERS

The Humboldt County Board of Supervisors appoints members of the WIB, according to the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) requirements and the WIB Bylaws. WIA requires certain agencies using workforce funds to be represented on the WIB, such as the Employment Development Department and the Northern CA Indian Development Council. CA law requires that 10-15% of the WIB membership be Labor Unions. Overall, WIA requires that the WIB membership be 51% private sector or business, and that the Chair of the WIB be a business representative. The WIB Bylaws define private sector to include both for profit and non-profit entities. The WIB encourages business representatives from the Target of Opportunity industries in our region.
